The Procedure
Greenlight Laser Prostatectomy is performed under anaesthesia. The procedure involves the insertion of a cystoscope (or telescope) through the urethra into the bladder to allow proper examination of the bladder and prostate. Then a laser fibre is passed through the telescope to the level of the prostate. Energy from the greenlight laser vaporises the prostate and seals any blood vessels that may start to bleed. There is no deep burning to any underlying tissue, and no evidence of nerve damage.
Greenlight Laser Prostatectomy is an "almost bloodless" treatment.
